Some like climbing mountains, while
others part the sea. They
swim past foam-capped waves
or sail the ocean breeze.
Grasping bicycle handles
and carnation bouquets,
they light candles at night and
strum chords throughout the day.
Some pick up the phone
transmitting news of death, while
others deliver babies
feeling their very first breaths.
Some find themselves in pockets
or climbing grapefruit trees. They
delight in dandelions and
shrink back from honeybees.
Cradling cups of coffee
or lurching towards a fight,
they empty whiskey bottles
until they fill with light.
Some roll lucky dice
while others need to fold. And
some steal purple paint tubes
to color a kinder world.
Plucking cello strings or
worn out ivory keys,
some read music note by note, while
others notate melodies.
